Update following OP SPECTRE

Dear resident.

Last week saw Greater Manchester Police take part in Operation SPECTRE. 

As advertised by your local Neighbourhood Team, we opened Uppermill Police Station to allow for a location for members of the public to bring in knives and sharply pointed instruments as part of a knife amnesty. 

I am happy to report that we had several items brought to the Police Station, which have now been sent for destruction. 

Your local Neighbourhood Team also conducted knife sweeps across most of our local park areas and playing fields, as intelligence suggests that this is the main location for knives to be stored. I am happy to report that of the parks and playing fields that were subject of a search, no knives were located. 

I would like to pass my thanks on from the whole team to all those who attended the Police Station throughout the week and those who conversed with my team whilst out on patrol and conducting the knife sweeps. 

Your continued support with the team goes a long way to bring us closer and ensure that all areas of Saddleworth and Lees are a safer place to live and work.
